Tasseomancy

"Apophenia"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 15, 2015

It's kind of difficult to interpret a track like Tasseomancy's latest Palm Wine Revisited preview, "Apophenia." The title itself references the drive to perceive meaning in the meaningless. There are definitely a few themes being explored in the new single, but maybe it's time to soak in the gorgeous cut rather than study it.

All the same, the tune is in line with the outfit's previously revealed notions that Palm Wine Revisited features "more sparse electronic arrangements" than the rest of their back catalogue. A partially digitized piece of chamber pop assisted by the breezy sounds of steel drums, it finds Sari and Romy Lightman pleasantly harmonizing their familial pipes.

We'll ease off on an in-depth analysis, but, as expressed in song, "Apophenia" does indeed "glimmer like loose coins in your pocket."

You can take a deeper listen to the dream-weaving tune down below. Palm Wine Revisited arrives in full on June 2 via Healing Power Records.
