Syndicated This Ain't New York

Yes, Syndicated certainly are not from New York — they have 416 area codes and are proud of it. However, maybe if they were from the Big Apple, some of that undeniable NYC cool would have seeped through their brazen hides. Their debut album, the unfortunately titled This Ain’t New York, is an embarrassing display of local obsession. Focusing songs around their hometown, Syndicated sing the blues of meeting the girls of the "905,” the ups and downs of "Toronto Life,” where the DJs suck, and the joys of dating a sleazy masseuse who’s good at the rub and tug. They’re considered "Britpop-meets-rawk,” but this is even harder to stomach than that idea, if that’s even possible. (Independent)
