As the summer begins to wind down, we're all trying to cram in as much fun as possible before returning to our normal, housebound lifestyles. You could be hitting the beach, going camping, heading out on a road trip or, better yet, seeing your favourite musician's perform live.

Vancouver sludge metal band Anciients are masters of their craft, seamlessly blending elements of prog metal and death metal with their Mastodon-worshipping sound in a way that many bands struggle with. Edmonton Folk Festival
 
Running from August 10 to 13, Edmonton Folk Festival's lineup is sure to have Western Canadian folk fans in pure ecstasy. At the 38th edition of the festival, you'll be able to catch sets from City and Colour, the Decemberists, Leon Bridges, Brandi Carlile, Andy Shauf and a ton more.

Metallica
 
Thrash metal titans Metallica have been killing it live since releasing their tenth studio album Hardwired…To Self Destruct. Western Canadian fans of the iconic metal band get their chance to see their incredible live show this week, as the band will be playing in Vancouver and Edmonton, with Avenged Sevenfold and Gojira opening both dates.
