Sylvan Esso have returned with a brand new single from their forthcoming album, Free Love. Today, they've shared "Frequency" from the record, alongside a new music video.
The visual effort was choreographed by North Carolina-based Stewart/Owen Dance, and the video credits fellow musician Moses Sumney with direction.
"[Sumney] had such a beautiful vision for the project, one that ran parallel to the song's initial source in a way that showed us new spaces it could inhabit," the band explained in a statement. "It's a beautiful exploration of being together and apart at the same time — we feel it rings clearly in this moment."
The release of "Frequency" follows two singles from their forthcoming album, including "Rooftop Dancing" and "Ferris Wheel."
The record will arrive on September 25 via Loma Vista. Following up their 2017 record What Now, the band have explained that forthcoming effort is "a record about being increasingly terrified of the world around you and looking inward to remember all the times when loving other people seemed so easy, so that you can find your way back to that place."
Prior to announcing the album, the duo headed out on a massive tour, from which they culled a concert film titled WITH. Meanwhile, the group's Amelia Meath has been keeping busy recording with Mountain Man, who last released a record in 2018 and have spent quarantine recording covers for their Mountain Man Sings series.
