A failed stage dive at a European metal and hardcore concert has ended in tragedy as a 28-year-old Swiss man has lost his life.

On January 22, Suicidal Tendencies performed in Solothurn, Switzerland with Terror, Strife and Evergreen Terrace. As the Solothurner Zeitung newspaper reports [via Blabbermouth], the man attempted to stage dive and was not caught, causing him to fall to the ground.

"A security guard responded immediately, helped the young man and our emergency unit reacted as well," said Pipo Kofmehl, head of the venue where the show took place. "Our team decided, however, that he should immediately seek hospital care."

Once the concertgoer was at the hospital, however, he had an epileptic seizure and passed away on Friday (January 24).

The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the incident, though Thalia Schweizer, a spokeswoman for the state police, was certain that the death was accidental.
