Swirlies Announce Tour, 7-Inch and 'Blondertongue Audiobaton' Reissue

Boston's Swirlies are about as seminal as they come, serving as one of the first American acts to add shoegazing elements to their indie rock. While they've been a little less active in the last six years, the group have never officially called it quits. That means there's no need for a reunion, but they will celebrate 25 years as a band with a North American tour and some new releases.

The group's founding members Damon Tutunjian, Seana Carmody and Andy Bernick will all be on hand, along with their long-time members Adam Pierce (Mice Parade) and Rob Laakso (Kurt Vile & the Violators), who've both played with the band since the mid-'90s. The lineup will be rounded out by Elliott Malvas.

Swirlies will perform two weeks of shows in July, with a pair of Canadian dates closing out the trek. They'll perform at Toronto's Drake Hotel on July 14 and Montreal's Bar Le Ritz on July 15.

The band will also release a new, limited 7-inch called Swirlies' Magic Strop: Orva vs. Dragon, which features three songs from UK radio performances. That'll arrive via the band's own Sneaky Flute Empire label.

They'll also reissue their seminal 1993 album Blondertongue Audiobaton via Taang! Records at some point this summer, though the details are yet to be confirmed.

For now, check out the band's full tour itinerary below along with a stream of Blondertongue Audiobaton's "Wrong Tube."
