Swans Release Live Double Album 'Not Here / Not Now,' Launch Crowdfunding Campaign for New Album

BY Josiah HughesPublished Oct 14, 2013

Earlier this year, moody noise rock juggernauts Swans promised a new live release and studio album. Now, they've made good on the first half of that promise, delivering a live double album.

The new record is called Not Here / Not Now, and cobbles together two discs worth of material from the band's recent touring. The limited edition double CD set boasts handmade packaging, with art from a linoleum block print courtesy of Nicole Boitos. Each copy includes hand-drawn doodles and writing from the band's own M. Gira.

Though we don't have the full tracklisting just yet, the live Swans recordings were culled from the band's touring in 2012 and 2013. There are also two crude demos of new Swans songs which will appear on the band's upcoming follow-up to last year's The Seer.

Speaking of their new album, Swans are using the live album as a way to crowdfund a new studio record. There are seven options for how you can buy Not Here / Not Now, the most expensive of which costs $500 and includes a personal song written and recorded by M. Gira.
