Superchunk Release Montreal Concert As Fourth Clambakes Volume

Oh how the time flies. It seems like only yesterday that Superchunk released the first instalment in their live Clambakes series, and now Vol. 4 is already just around the corner.

On January 13, the scrappy indie rock pioneers have announced they will deliver The Clambakes Vol. 4 - Sur La Bouche - Live in Montreal 1993, which as you can tell from that title, has a very Canadian connection. The Superchunk performance was recorded in March 1993 in Montreal by Howard Bilerman, who later did time in Arcade Fire and became the engineer and operator of the city's famed Hotel 2 Tango Studios.

According to the press release: "Sur La Bouche captures Superchunk in the midst of touring for On the Mouth [1993], out on Matador a few months previous. The sound is not pristine - guitars and drums are cranked and overload the tape occasionally - but the energy of the night is definitely captured and after all, it's a bootleg!"

This latest Clambakes offering will be a digital exclusive at the Merge Records shop and also be sent for free to all subscribers to the label's ambitious SCORE! Merge 20th Anniversary Box Set.

And while it's all fine and good that Superchunk are again delivering some fresh old rarities, there is still no word of any album of new material from the band. Sorry, Chunkers.
