Published Jun 16, 2010The thought of a new Superchunk album really hit us like a ton of bricks when it hit on April Fool's Day. We got even more excited when we learned that the album would be called Majesty Shredding and be available this fall. Now, we're losing our minds with the announcement of a lead-off single and North American tour.
"Digging for Something" is the first single coming from Majesty Shredding, and it will be available on July 13. The seven-inch will feature the non-album B-side "February Punk," and will be limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies. With that in mind, you might want to pre-order that puppy from the Merge store. While you're clicking around, check out a stream of the ultra-poppy A-side over at Stereogum.
In addition to the new single, Superchunk have just announced the first batch of tour dates for Majesty Shredding. Best of all, the run of dates includes a Vancouver stop on October 13, so Western Canadians longing for the 'Chunk can finally get their fill.
Majesty Shredding will be available in stores on September 14 via Merge.
