Montreal's Sunfields laid down a double-album's worth of material when they set off into the studio making their third full-length, Habitat. The cream of the crop turned what could have been an expansive excursion into a streamlined 11-song offering, and you can check out the indie outfit's final result now on Exclaim.ca ahead of the official May 27 due date through Exit Sign Music.
As previously reported, the album was recorded at Breakglass Studios with Besnard Lakes' Jace Lasek and at the band's own Field Recordings studio, and found road-tested tracks worked over a few times before arriving as Habitat. Acoustic-heavy opener "Ghost" was already let loose to listeners with the album announcement, but now you can sample other tracks like the tear-stained, tremolo six-string-driven alt-country ballad "Sentimental Heart," the softly shuffled of "Prairie Girls," the ultimately well-annunciated "Mumbled Words" and more.
Sunfields also have some tour dates coming up, and you can peep the itinerary for the trip just above the album stream.

05/22 Kingston, ON - The Artel
05/23 Westport, ON - The Cove
