Sun Kil Moon Announces 'Universal Themes' LP

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 19, 2015

After a busy 2014 that included a new album, a live record and a Christmas full-length — not to mention some ill-advised diss tracks — songwriter Mark Kozelek is back with another LP as Sun Kil Moon. Universal Themes will be out on June 2, with a vinyl release to follow later in 2015.

An announcement from Caldo Verde Records reveals that the album was recorded in San Francisco, CA, and Hoboken, NJ. Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley contributed percussion, while Kozelek handled guitar and vocals.

The eight-song tracklist is below. It includes some very wordy titles like "Cry Me a River Williamsburg Sleeve Tattoo Blues," "With a Sort of Grace I Walked to the Bathroom to Cry," and "This Is My First Day and I'm Indian and I Work at a Gas Station." Fans will also notice that the recent single "The Possum" appears here as the first track.
