Details are still pending on the 2013 edition of annual travelling metal fest Summer Slaughter, but organizers have now announced the first wave of artists that have signed on for the trip, including Dillinger Escape Plan and Cattle Decapitation.
While city specifics have yet to be announced for the seventh annual North American trip, which runs July 19 to August 24, a promotional poster has revealed eight marquee acts attached to the event. On top of math-metal wizards Dillinger Escape Plan and vegetarian grinders Cattle Decapitation, other acts set to appear include Aeon, the Ocean, Animals as Leaders, Norma Jean, Periphery and Revocation.
A press statement from Dillinger frontman Greg Puciato has him explaining how stoked he and the rest of his troupe are to hit the road in support of their impending One of Us Is the Killer LP.
"We are absolutely amped," he said. "After being holed up in the studio for such a long time giving birth to One Of Us Is The Killer, we are all pent up and ready to share material new and old with our supporters doing what we love to do the most. Can't wait to see and either kiss or rip off each and every one of your faces on the road with Summer Slaughter and year round, everywhere."
Cattle Decapitation gargler Travis Ryan likewise noted he's pleased to take part in the tour, having played the fest in its inaugural year.
"The first Summer Slaughter Tour was the best U.S. tour we've ever done and we look forward to helping devastate the states with our take on brutal, grinding death and playing the choicest slabs from our latest album, Monolith of Inhumanity. Who's ripe for the slaughter!?!?"
While the tour schedule has yet to reveal whether the trek will make its way into Canada, it should be noted that the last few years have seen Summer Slaughter come to Toronto and Montreal.
