Suge Knight Suing Kanye West

According to a report from TMZ, Suge Knight has launched a lawsuit against Kanye West over a party he threw leading up to the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards. Allegedly, Knight was shot in the leg and managed to lose a $135,000 earring at the event, and he blames Kanye, the host.

Other than the value of the 15-carat diamond stud earring, Knight cites damages "for the loss of use and enjoyment” of it, as well as "the costs of a private plane to transport him from Florida back to Los Angeles, California" after the incident.

The kicker is that Suge Knight, who was once the most feared mogul in the music industry, has good reason to be resorting to such desperate measures: TMZ points out that he recently filed for bankruptcy, and that "he's worked out a deal with the Court that will allow him to keep a percentage of any dough he collects from the suit.” It must be hard times for a man who used to muscle Vanilla Ice for cash.

Kanye hasn’t commented on the matter, as he’s probably too busy to care about the desperate cash-grab from the faltering businessman. West drops his Auto Tune-heavy 808s and Heartbreak album on November 25.
