Sufjan Stevens will release his companion compilation The Greatest Gift Mixtape — Outtakes, Remixes, & Demos from Carrie & Lowell next month, and ahead of its arrival, he's shared another rarity.
Following the outtake "Wallowa Lake Monster," Stevens has now unearthed an iPhone demo recording of album cut "John My Beloved."
Featuring simple acoustic guitar and the singer's unmistakable voice, it's a softer take on the gorgeous version that ended up on the LP.
As previously reported, The Greatest Gift Mixtape arrives on November 24 via Asthmatic Kitty. Earlier this year, the singer-songwriter released a live companion album to Carrie & Lowell, as well.
