Lawnya Vawnya

Lawnya Vawnya, the annual music and arts festival that takes its name from a Newfoundland expression that means "a good time at a party," promises to be exactly that with this year's iteration. Running until April 26, the festival will be bringing a number of exciting acts to St. John's, including the likes of Suuns, Teenanger and Doug Paisley, so be sure to hit up a show this week.

Clark / Nosaj Thing

Electronic producers Clark and Nosaj Thing have teamed up for a North American tour that will be rolling through Vancouver this week. Their show in Montreal last week had concertgoers moving to the beats of Clark's latest Flame Rave EP and chilling out afterwards to the nu-R&B grooves provided by Nosaj Thing.

04/24/2015 Vancouver, BC – Electric Owl

Sufjan Stevens

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens will be making a stopover in Toronto as a part of his North American tour in support of his most recent album, Carrie and Lowell. Stevens' most recent work takes a much more subtle and melancholic tone that will make for a very intimate live show.

04/29/2015 Toronto, ON – Massey Hall

Chilly Gonzales

Piano virtuoso and songwriter Chilly Gonzales will be playing three shows in Montreal this week. Expect the setlist to draw heavily from Gonzales' recently released LP Chambers which features a mix of beautiful piano pieces accented with strings and, occasionally, vocals, too. Live string arrangements will be handled by Kaiser Quartett, making for a faithful replication of the ornate sounds found on the album.

Cold Specks

Goth-tinged soul singer Cold Specks will be hitting the home country this week with a string of dates in Ontario. Last year's album, Neuroplasticity, found Al Spx employing multiple layers of instrumental arrangements. Our review of her recent show in Vancouver found Spx going back and forth between a cappella showcases of her vocals and wielding her electric guitar.

The duo maintain an engaging stage presence in a live setting and always manage to keep the crowd on their feet.
