Published Jan 08, 2015Sufjan Stevens has penned the score for a new rodeo film called Round-Up, and ahead of its unveiling this month through the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), we can now check out a trailer.
The trailer offers an intriguing combination of all-American rootsiness and futuristic surreality. All of the visuals were shot by siblings Aaron and Alex Craig at Oregon's Pendleton Round-Up in 2013. These rustic images appear in eerie slow motion, while the score by Stevens (along with New York outfit Yarn/Wire) is dramatic in its simmering, electronic-inflected atmosphere.
Stevens and Yarn/Wire will perform the score live at screenings from January 20 to 25 at BAM.
This is a follow-up to Stevens' piece The BQE, which was also commissioned by BAM.
