Published Apr 08, 2008Sub Pop is looking to celebrate its platinum anniversary (that's 20 years) this July with a two-day festival in, where else? Seattle!
Though nothing has been set in stone or officially confirmed by the celebrated indie label, word has leaked that the event will occur July 12 and 13 at the 640-acre Marymoor Park in Redmond, WA. Bands are set to play all day and all night, covering the history of the label's roster. The biggest news, of course, comes in the reunion of pre-Pearl Jam outfit Green River, featuring Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament, as well as the Fluid - remember them?
Also rumoured are possible club shows in the area, a comedy night (David Cross? Patton Oswalt? Flight of the Conchords?), and the recently reunited Ace of Base doing a greatest hits set of grunge covers... Okay, that last one isn't true, I just wanted to add the fact that they're in fact reuniting (without the blonde). But could you imagine that?
