Stryper Return For 25th Anniversary

BY Greg PrattPublished May 1, 2009

Lock up your secular thoughts, Stryper are back. The much-maligned Christian rock band, who found a good amount of success in the '80s with their shockingly catchy glam metal (their messed-up yellow-and-black "bee" costumes added to the freak show), are back with a new album, Murder by Pride, to be released July 21.

And just to show us they're with the times, the band will be offering the advance sale of one song per week on iTunes starting May 5.

The occasion seems to be that Stryper are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year. A tour is scheduled that will feature both the original lineup of the band and the current lineup (the only difference is actually the bassist, Tim Gaines). And it'll be fun for the whole family: Michael Sweet Jr., son of singer Michael Sweet, will be opening the show with his band.

We're waiting for confirmation on if Stryper will be tossing Bible-loaded digital readers at their crowds.
