Strung Out Planning Deluxe Reissue Series, Live DVD Release

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Mar 12, 2013

Last year, veteran California pop punks Strung Out hit the road on their "Twisted in a Suburban Wasteland" tour, which had them playing 1996's Suburban Wasteland Blues and 1998's Twisted by Design back-to-back in full. The retro celebrations continue this year with news that those albums and more will receive deluxe reissues courtesy of Fat Wreck Chords.

On the label's website, it confirmed that the aforementioned LPs and the group's 1994 debut Another Day in Paradise "deserve some special treatment" and are being remixed by producer Ryan Greene for the deluxe reissues. It's unclear at present whether the packages will include bonus tracks.

The three reworked albums will also be tossed together into the Volume One box set, along with a brand new concert DVD that was filmed live at Montreal's Le National last July on the "Twisted in a Suburban Wasteland" tour. Drummer Jordan Burns said in a statement that the concert flick will include the full performances of both Suburban Wasteland Blues and Twisted by Design.

"We are all pretty stoked on this box set," he said. "All three albums are sounding so fresh and revived. If we didn't think you would all love it like we do, we wouldn't be putting it out."

Judging by the box set's title, it seems like Fat is planning to reissue even more of the band's back catalogue in the future. In the meantime, you can stream Suburban Wasteland Blues's speedy opening anthem "Firecracker" down below. The band also have some European dates this spring, and you can read about the details here.
