The Strokes' New Album Coming on March 22?

BY Josiah HughesPublished Jan 10, 2011

Earlier this month, Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture hinted that the years-long wait for the band's yet-to-be-titled fourth album would be coming to an end this spring, telling UK DJ Zane Low, "In terms of progress, it's finished, it's recorded, we are in the mixing stage at the moment and it should be out in March." Now, like a rock'n'roll hipster WikiLeaks, a leaked internal memo has suggested that the album will be out on March 22.

Direct Current claims that it has obtained the March 22 release date from an internal RCA memo, along with news that the album's first single will be released in February. No direct quotes were given, but the info fits the general March 2011 timeframe the band have been suggesting since last summer.

Most of all, we badly want to believe it's true so we can stop writing updates about the album release date and actually just hear the damn thing. Now, if only someone could leak some production notes that confirm Julian Casablancas's ridiculous cover art is legit...

UPDATE: As TwentyFourBit points out, Strokes bassist Nikolai Fraiture has now confirmed the March 22 release date.
