The Strokes' Albert Hammond Jr. Announces New EP

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jul 3, 2013

The Strokes returned earlier this year with Comedown Machine, and while frontman Julian Casablancas was featured on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories, he wasn't the only Stroke working on new material. Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. has revealed that he will be releasing a new EP this September.

He made the announcement on Har Mar Superstar's "Nocturnal Emotions" podcast this week, according to Pitchfork. The new five-song collection doesn't have a title yet, but Hammond has confirmed that it will arrive via Casablancas' label Cult Records this fall. It marks the follow-up to 2008's ¿Cómo Te Llama?.

Hammond plays majority of the instruments on the new EP, though Matt Romano takes over drumming duties. It was produced by Gus Oberg.

Stay tuned for details, but for now, listen to 2008's "Spooky Couch" below.
