Stream Pkew Pkew Pkew's New Album 'Optimal Lifestyles'

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Feb 28, 2019

Toronto punk crew Pkew Pkew Pkew signed to Dine Alone last year, and now they're ready to deliver their first full-length album since joining the label. Optimal Lifestyles is officially due out tomorrow (March 1), but Exclaim! is giving you an early listen to the whole thing right now.

The record boasts plenty of anthems about holding on to the glory days of youthful partying and the rock'n'roll lifestyle (a.k.a. struggling to make a living as a musician in Toronto) — from opener "Still Hangin' Out After All These Years" and "Everything's the Same" to the more raucous "Drinkin' Days" and the previously shared "Passed Out."

By the end of the album, though, the band seem to grow up a bit on tracks like "The Pit," "Adult Party" and "Thirsty and Humble."

Optimal Lifestyles was written with contributions from the Hold Steady wordsmith Craig Finn.
