Ultimately, the album was never officially released, though a low-quality acetate of considered songs would circulate among the deepest Young appreciators for decades.
The songwriter would later place material cut for this record on his other well-loved releases of the time — like Rust Never Sleeps, American Stars 'n Bars and Comes a Time — while also referencing the LP's working title with his 2007 album Chrome Dreams II.
Now, like Hitchhiker, Homegrown and Toast before it, Chrome Dreams is the latest of Young's fabled unreleased full-lengths to officially arrive in the world via his ongoing Special Release Series.
