The surviving members of Vancouver hardcore unit Strain have announced they're playing a reunion set this weekend to celebrate the life of their fallen bandmate, Jody Taylor. The show takes place this Sunday (May 29) at Seattle's Neumos venue as part of Rain Fest.

Guitarist John Franco had been teasing a reunion announcement through his Facebook page over the last week, at one point posting a jam session photo of himself, guitarist Sean Lande and bassist Eric "Flexyourhead" Thorkelson.

In a message to Exclaim!, Franco added that Here and Now-period drummer Chris Walker is also on board for next weekend's set. You can see the four musicians in the picture above.

Franco has also uploaded a zip file of MP3s and lyrics of Strain songs the band will be playing, including heavy hitting cuts "Altar," "Cycle," "These Years" and "Here and Now." You can download the material over here.

The Rain Fest set is being billed as "Strain + friends honoring the legacy of Jody Taylor." As to who will be standing on stage and singing with the band, Franco told Exclaim!: "We have a few people who were close to Jody that will be holding the mic."

You can find out more about this weekend's Rain Fest, which will also feature performances from No Warning, Blacklisted, Trash Talk, Keep It Clear, 108, True Identity, and more, over here.

As previously reported, Taylor passed away last March. He was working for the City of Vancouver as an arborist and was tragically crushed in his boom-mounted bucket by a falling tree limb. He was 43 years old.
