Stones Throw Teams Up with Leaving Records for New Comp

Stones Throw Teams Up with Leaving Records for New Comp
Since Peanut Butter Wolf started up Stones Throw Records in 1996, the label has offered up a diverse catalogue of hip-hop, soul and electronic releases. The imprint is now looking to further spice up its portfolio by announcing a new partnership with fellow L.A. label Leaving Records. First up from the two labels is the Dual Form compilation, which drops on cassette on November 6, as well as on CD, LP and digitally January 22.

According to a press sheet, the 53-minute collection reps Leaving's eclectic roster, including sound experimenter Julia Holter, electronic artist Dntel and psych-rock droners Sun Araw, among other artists. While 19 songs will appear on the digital, vinyl and CD versions, three extra cuts from Matthewdavid will also figure on the cassette version, though the song titles have yet to be revealed.

Rather than offer a sampler of what's previously been released on the cassette-loving Leaving Records, each track offered up on Dual Form is an unreleased recording. You can sample Cyclist's contribution, "Visions," in the player below.

Following the label comp's release, Stones Throw will begin distributing select Leaving titles, including the Cyclist's as-yet-unnamed debut LP, which is set for an early 2013 release.
