Published Oct 22, 2011If this week passed you by way too fast and you're looking to catch up on the latest music news, you've come to right place. Below, you'll find all the week's top stories, which brought with them more than a few surprises.
First off, a biggie. After years of countless false reports and rumours, the Stone Roses are finally reuniting. At a press conference this week, the long-dormant Madchester greats announced they would be returning with a series of reunion shows, as well as perhaps some new material. We'll leave it to you to come up with your own resurrection pun.
This week also found Kanye West revealing that he's assembling G.O.O.D. Music: The Album, a compilation of sorts containing a variety of tracks from the label's esteemed roster. So far not much is known about the project, but Pusha T did reveal some of the details, thankfully.
Adding to the surprises, Mazzy Star announced their return, and Lars Ulrich revealed that Metallica were actually up to score Tarantino's much-loved Kill Bill movies but the drummer turned him down.
In some Exclaim! interviews, we then had Tom Waits opening up about his new Bad As Me album and M83's Anthony Gonzalez telling us all about the statement his aiming to make with Hurry Up, We're Dreaming.
Finally, Questlove got a little upset over Bon Iver's hip-hop list, Death From Above 1979 extended their Canadian tour and Kevin Mahoney of hardcore heroes Siege passed away.
