Why is it that bad band names are endemic to punk rock? The genre’s history reads like a road map of ill-thought out monikers: Sex Pistols, Dirty Rotten Imbeciles, Circle Jerks. Shock value aside, they sure sound silly. The Stinking Dogs from Quebec, the capitol of bands with atrocious names, play melodic punk à la Screeching Weasel. Banging out seven songs in about 18 minutes, this has heart even though it isn’t the most original thing on the block.
