Aussie audiences were treated to a pressing of indie pop unit the Stevens' 7-inch last year through Chapter Music, with the record quickly selling out before making it over en masse to our continent. Thankfully, Vancouver imprint Kingfisher Bluez is making things easier to grab a copy by pressing up a limited run in North America.
Inspired by the Flying Nun scene of yore, the six-song debut presents a lo-fi jangle of six-strings and charming, if occasionally unstable, vocal harmonies on "Teenage Satellites" and "Weaving." Comprising members of Twerps and Boomgates, the group build up peppy arrangements full of spindling guitar sonics and driving, understated rhythms for tracks like "Fast Cars."
