Steve Porter

Homegrown

Steve Porter’s 14-track debut album of original tracks is danceable progressive house that is mixed like a live DJ set. It opens with "Fluffer Nutter,” a cheery track with rock-styled drums and a guitar-led melody that sets the tone for an album of mid-paced house tracks, with occasional trance-y elements. Porter’s most recent deep progressive house singles, "Vodka Cranberries” and "Definite Form,” are both on here with their big bass lines. Other good tracks include the melodic "Purina” and "Beat n Potatoes.” There are also a few more aggressive, harsher tracks, like "Between 9 & 10” and "Swanky.” None of these tracks are breaking any new ground, but they are still satisfying as well-produced, danceable grooves.
