Steve Brockley Band Gear Up for 'LeBoeuf,' Kick Off Canadian Tour

BY Alex HudsonPublished Apr 12, 2013

BC-based folkie Steve Brockley released a self-titled album back in 2010, but he's since rebranding the project as Steve Brockley Band. On April 16, the trio will release LeBoeuf as they head across the country for a Canadian tour.

LeBoeuf features singer-guitarist Brockley backed by Kevin Bertram on upright bass and Leon Power on drums and mandolin. The disc was produced by John Raham (Carolyn Mark, the Be Good Tanyas).

"When we recorded the first album, we were brand new and we just got in the studio and recorded and mixed the whole thing in three days — quick and dirty," said Brockley in a statement. "On this one, after spending the last couple years on the road together, we felt we owed the new material the best possible opportunity to come alive. We took the time we needed to capture the songs without chasing them away."

Sonic touchstones are said to include J.J. Cale, Townes Van Zandt, Hank Williams, John Prine, Bob Dylan and the Band. A press release notes that LeBoeuf is a "personal album" containing "storytelling, clever metaphors and great musicianship."
