The Stepkids Announce 'Troubadour,' Premiere New Song

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 12, 2013

Connecticut pop explorers the Stepkids have been teasing the arrival of their sophomore set Troubadour as far back as last fall, but the trio have finally fit the LP with an official street date. Stones Throw slides the set into stores September 10.

A press release confirms that the previously released single "Sweet Salvation" figures in the middle of the 10-song collection, which follows the group's 2011 self-titled debut. The new album, meanwhile, presents a story arc focuses on the titular troubadour "as he grapples with love, life on the road, and the commercial requirements of the music biz." Apparently, the story was somewhat inspired by the band's own experiences.

"The album's kind of autobiographical," bassist/keyboardist/vocalist Dan Edinberg said in a statement. "The troubadour character represents an extremity of who we really are."

Drummer Tim Walsh added that "It's a character anyone can find themselves in."
