An Evening of Bad Decisions

BY Ty TrumbullPublished Sep 9, 2008

It’s no wonder this band won a spot opening for the much-anticipated Hot Water Music reunion shows. There angular guitars instantly remind of the popular Floridian band’s earlier catalogue, while the rapid staccato drum beats and the blink-and-you’ll-miss-it song lengths drop a strong Kid Dynamite vibe. The vocals sound earnest and angry, like a more pissed off Chris Wollard. "Cut the Tie” sees the band sounding the most pissed off, while "Fin” hits a little closer to the heart, with an almost Billy Bragg feel, before transforming into a pretty standard, but catchy, rock’n’roll number. The production is a little too light on the low end but still manages to capture a vibrant, high energy performance that’s a good representation of a band you should be keeping your eyes on.
