Toronto indie pop outfit Stars are on the verge of releasing their fifth album, The Five Ghosts, this summer, and they're busy with all sorts of record-related plans. Having just completed their fan-curated tour, they now have remixes on the mind with a new EP.

The four-song affair is called The Séance and features remix work from Of Montreal, the Album Leaf and Montag, along with the title track from their upcoming album. The EP will be available for free to anyone who pre-orders The Five Ghosts on iTunes.

It will also be available as a free digital download to anyone who pre-orders the limited Five Ghosts box set. That set, available here, features the whole album and a bonus track spread across six coloured seven-inches, along with photographs, album inserts and other treats. It comes in a hand-crafted wooden box and is available for $100.

Finally, Stars have announced a remix contest for fans who want to try their hand at reworking the album track "We Don't Want Your Body." Stems for the track are available here, and the winner will receive a slew of merchandise from the band, including the aforementioned box set. The contest closes on July 31.

The Five Ghosts will be released in Canada on June 22 via the band's own Soft Revolution Records.

The Séance EP:

1. "Opinions Versus the Sun" (Stars vs. the Album Leaf)
2. "The Five Ghosts"
3. "The Black House, the Blue Sky" (Stars vs. Montag)
4. "The Dead Beg for More" (Stars vs. Of Montreal)
