Stars to Play 'Set Yourself on Fire' in Full at Toronto Anniversary Show

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 5, 2015

Long-running Canadian indie rock staples Stars released their latest LP No One Is Lost last year and followed it up with the Tour EP and another mini-release entitled Lost & Found. Now, the band are taking a moment to reflect and celebrate a special milestone — the 10th anniversary of Set Yourself on Fire.

Originally released in Canada in 2004, the band's third record received an international release in 2005. To mark 10 years since the beloved album made its way across the globe, Stars have announced a special celebratory concert event.

The show will take place on December 19 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto. In addition to performing Set Yourself on Fire in its entirety, the band also have "some Christmas-themed surprises in store for fans."

Tickets for the event go on sale October 9 and full details are available here.

"This record was made in a village in the hills, in a house buried to the windowsills in snow," said the band's Torquil Campbell in a press release. "As soon as we released it, it became everyone else's. We didn't know what we had made. We still don't. But it's given us a life in art, and bummed a lot of people out, in the best possible way. We were trying to make a record about your past. Little did we know, it would become about our past, too. We love it because it's yours. So we want to play it for you. Think of it as a really depressing but awesome Christmas present."

The band will also be on tour leading up to the special holiday show, and you can see those dates listed below.

UPDATE (12/09, 12:00 p.m.): The band will now be playing a three-night string of celebratory shows at the Phoenix. Additional shows have been added on December 17 and 18.
