Stars

'The North' (album stream)

BY Alex HudsonPublished Aug 28, 2012

For more than a decade now, Stars have been winning over audiences with their sensitive, dreamy indie pop tunes. On September 4, the band will release their latest full-length offering, The North, via their own Soft Revolution Records imprint in Canada and via ATO Records south of the border. For fans who just can't wait until the disc is in stores, you can hear the whole thing now on Exclaim.ca.

The 12-song album was co-produced by Stars along with Marcus Paquin (Arcade Fire, Little Scream) and Graham Lessard (Plants & Animals, Young Galaxy) at RCA Victor Studios in Montreal. It is Stars' sixth album overall and follows 2010's The Five Ghosts.

Fans of Stars' past work are sure to find more material to enjoy here, since tracks like "The Theory of Relativity" and "Hold On When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It" show the band at their most dreamy and pop-oriented, while the charging "Backlines" is slightly more rocking but will all Stars' signature sweetness.

To promote the album, Stars will be touring in Canada with Metric. They also have lots of U.S. show on the horizon, so see their schedule over at their official website.

You can also pre-order The North here on iTunes in Canada.
