Stars Montreal QC September 25 to 28

"We’re gonna take over, all the faggots are gonna take over,” said Torq Campbell, translating Jesus’s spiel about the meek for the 21st century. (Sorry to out you, Torq, but you’re straight!) We know of what he speaks though, kinda, but the intense focus in his face, the care he puts into his crystalline melodies and fragile harmonies with comrade Amy Millan speak louder than his words. Montreal’s masters of ’80s-inspired romantic pop may have lacked the spiky rock panache of WSC and Metric, but their luscious wedding of guitars, keyboards and airtight vocals thoroughly charmed the crowd, faggots and all.
