"I Took a Pill in Ibiza" (Mike Posner cover)

BY Calum SlingerlandPublished Jun 2, 2016

After covering the likes of Kanye West and Colin Vearncombe, the latest addition to Canadian indie vets Stars' ongoing covers project is Mike Posner's pop hit "I Took a Pill in Ibiza."

Produced by longtime collaborator Liam O'Neil, the band put their lighthearted electro-pop stamp on the track with plenty of shimmering keyboards and airy vocals.

"The music industry is an abattoir," the band explained in a statement. "But fuck it, it was something to do. We will later be releasing our remix of this cover of a remix. And perhaps at some later date, a re-remix of our cover of this remix of an original.

"Content is king, kids, in the age of the glowing box. And it don't mean a thing if ain't got that cha-ching. This one's for Steve Miller, for some reason. Enjoy."

Stars are currently recording a new record along with each month's cover tune. Take a listen to the band's cover of "I Took a Pill in Ibiza" in the player below.
