Stars

"Backlines"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 8, 2012

Stars will let loose their next full-length The North September 4 through their own Soft Revolution Records, but fans are chomping at the bit to hear some new tunes before the street date. Already, the band offered up album tracks "The Theory of Relativity" and "Hold on When You Get Love and Let Go When You Give It," and now they've unveiled another number, "Backlines."

The tune kicks off with the briefest wash of white noise before a syncopated, percussive guitar and bass harmony and singer Amy Millan's dreamy and breathy vocals take over. The song adds a massive string section, but the breezy pop rock number never feels cluttered.
