St. Vincent

"Prince Johnny"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Feb 5, 2014

Current Exclaim! cover star St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark) won't be dropping her new, self-titled LP for another few weeks, but the art-pop player is streaming yet another song ahead of the due date. This time, we're treated to the stately slow-jam "Prince Johnny."

Laden with faux-choir synth hits and a digitized beat, the song has Clark detailing the activities of the titular figure. Her coos describe Johnny pointing at a map of the Andes, plotting out some sexual conquests, and praying to become a real boy in a bathroom stall. Sonically, it's more low-key than previous previews like "Birth in Reverse" and the brassy "Digital Witness," but comes off as yet another stunning tease to St. Vincent's fourth full-length.

You can soak in the character sketch and its accompanying laid-back bounce in the player down below, and check out Exclaim!'s new interview with Clark over here.

As previously reported, St. Vincent arrives February 25 via Loma Vista/Republic Records.
