Published Feb 12, 2016While St. Vincent (a.k.a. Annie Clark) has yet to announce a follow-up to her much-acclaimed self-titled LP from 2014, the arty guitar god has brought out a Rolling Stones cover for upcoming Tilda Swinton flick A Bigger Splash. If you're in need of an "Emotional Rescue," Clark's cover of the song of the same name is streaming now.
The track is fairly faithful to the original, gliding by on a distinct and soul-quaking half-time groove. St. Vincent puts an airy twist on Mick Jagger's falsetto and lets a few choppy guitar chords fly, while the piece is also a bit more ambient with its approach to saxophone. It comes produced by Sounwave.
A Bigger Splash stars Swinton as a famous rock star on an Italian vacation with a filmmaker (Matthias Schoenaerts), which is disrupted by the unexpected arrival of an old friend (Ralph Fiennes). It opens March 26.
The soundtrack, which also includes music from the Rolling Stones and Popol Vuh, is our February 19 via Decca.
