SSS SSS

SSS SSS
Sure, they’re riding on the coattails of the buzz that crossover flashback kings Municipal Waste have created, right down to the goofy lyrical topics, but SSS (which stands for "Short Sharp Shock,” by the way) do a great job of it. A damn great job, really, and with a huge bang of the head towards old school thrash metal, and a slam dance over to DRI-style crossover hardcore, this one oozes with sincerity. I love those vocal and bass lines, things that usually don’t stand out, except when it comes to crossover. These kids know their stuff (we’ll assume the guy in the band picture wearing a Celtic Frost Cold Lake shirt is doing it because it’s kind of funny) and it shows on those 17 ragers, all of which whip past before the listener has a chance to say, "Shit, Nuclear Assault were the greatest band ever.” Fun, sincere and a thrashin’ good time all at once. Check out the ending of "L.B.P.” for a great homage to the mighty Slayer. (Earache)
