Spotify Swipes Right on Tinder, Brings Music to User Profiles

If you've thrown yourself headfirst into the world of app-based dating and fret over the music taste of the dates you've lined up, then Tinder and Spotify now have you covered.

In what could be the edge over Apple Music they've been looking for, the Swedish music streaming giant has partnered with app developer IAC to allow Tinder users to include their top Spotify artists alongside their other profile information.

"With or without a Spotify account, you can play previews of other people's top songs right from their Tinder profiles," Spotify explained in a statement. "What's more, if you have your Spotify account connected, you'll see the artists you have in common with each person."

Perhaps a Top 10 that includes Death Cab for Cutie and Car Seat Headrest could speak more to your emotional vulnerability than your pickup lines ever could. If that isn't enough, users can now choose their own "#TinderAnthem," a standalone song that could also be used to show potential matches what you're looking for.

In search of some good old fashioned love? The Beatles' "Something" is surely available. Looking to be a little too forward in playing the field? You could pick Juvenile's "Back That Azz Up." The possibilities are endless.

Tinder featuring Spotify is currently rolling out in all 59 markets where Spotify is available.
