Eclectic odd-pop veteran Spookey Ruben has announced he's steering away from his solo career to team up with a pair of pals as AAA Battery. The trio's debut LP Year of the Woman is due out December 3 via Rescord Records.

A press release notes that the long-distance project was cooked up by San Francisco bassist Joe Maydak and Chicago-area guitarist/drummer Fred Jeske. After they began recording songs for the project, they approached Spookey Ruben about contributing vocals to one of the tracks. After hearing the material, Ruben replied, "How about I sing on all of them?"

The first taste of the LP is new single "Tea Time," which Ruben described as sounding something like "softcore Porno for Pyros." You can judge the artist's claim for yourself by sampling the track in the either the SoundCloud player beneath the tracklisting or via AAA Battery's new video for the song.
