Published Apr 04, 2013On top of possibly prepping a 7-inch with Divine Fits and a new "slightly more R&B" record with Spoon, Britt Daniel will eventually also issue an LP with new project Split Single (who were previously styling their name as Spl:t S:ngle). While a due date for the release has yet to be unveiled, the trio, which is led by Jason Narducy and also includes Superchunk drummer Jon Wurster, have unveiled three new songs.
Up first is jangly power-pop track "Fragmented World," which has gently voiced Narducy detailing his days staring at pictures of a long-gone ex. "Waiting for the Sun" is a bit moodier, with Daniel's percussive bass chug driving behind an ethereal synth melody. Finally, "Last Goodbye" features busily trilled harpsichord runs juxtaposing against a laid-back rock groove and orchestral strings, altogether playing something like an update of the Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony."
You can sample all three songs out down below.
