Spirits Announce September CD Release Shows

Following a surprise Hamilton performance, which involved sharing the stage with the legendary Pixies, Kitchener/Hamilton pop trio Spirits have announced a trio of shows to celebrate their upcoming debut album.

Accomplished songwriters Ian Smith and Brad Germain are accompanied by drummer/vocalist Nick Skalkos on the group's self-titled release, which is due out via Sonic Unyon on September 29.

The album was self-produced in Kitchener, ON, with the emphasis on catchiness and melodies. "We didn't want it to be a heavy band. We were shooting for it to be more 'poppy,' just focusing on the melodies of the song," says Germain in a statement.

However, the band does not want to hide behind the "pop" label, promising to doll out some in-depth lyrics on top of their memorable choruses. And as we recently wrote, they definitely straddle "the line between dance pop and stadium rock."

As for those CD release shows, all will go down in Ontario on these dates:

9/17 Waterloo, ON - The Starlight

9/18 Toronto, ON - The Hideout

9/19 Hamilton, ON - Club Absinthe
