The Spinto Band Moonwink

The Spinto Band Moonwink
The Spinto Band are a group that know their strengths. Since forming in the mid-'90s, they've self-released a wealth of records but it wasn't until 2005's Nice and Nicely Done that they began to register as more than a local blip on the indie pop radar. Moonwink sees them continuing in the same manner, with frenetic songs that find the common ground between early Apples In Stereo and later Pavement, which nobody thought existed. But it turns out it does and in small doses at least it can be quite entertaining. In larger doses, however, it's a little exhausting because the twitchiness makes even a three-minute song feel remarkably longer, although that might in part be due to the one-dimensional nature of the album. It doesn't stop for breath and if it did there's a real good chance nobody would notice because the band have found their niche and have no intention of branching out. (Park The Van)
