Spike Lee to Direct John Legend/Roots Webcast

Last month, luminary filmmaker Terry Gilliam directed an Arcade Fire concert webcast, which streamed live on YouTube. At the time, it was revealed that this was the first in a planned series of webcasts called Unstaged, sponsored by American Express.

The next instalment in the series is a collaboration between
John Legend and the Roots, and once again, the webcast will be directed by an iconic filmmaker: Spike Lee.

Lee's films have commonly explored such weighty subjects as race relations, poverty and crime. With past works including He Got Game, Do the Right Thing and Malcolm X, we're going to say that this will be a bit of a departure for Lee.

The concert will take place tomorrow night (September 23) at Terminal 5 in New York at 9 p.m. EST. Guests will include Common, Estelle, CL Smooth, Melanie Fiona and Jennifer Hudson.

To see the webcast, tune in to Legend's VEVO channel.
