Sparks Are Back in the Studio

The prolific duo's 26th album is officially in the oven

After unveiling a massive reissue campaign earlier this year, Sparks have their eyes on the horizon: the sibling duo are officially working on new music.

In a new studio update posted to Instagram yesterday (July 4), the Mael brothers offered a simple "#newsparksalbum" to caption a photo of them hard at work. It sees Ron intently studying scribblings on a notepad (a tracklist? A grocery list? A game of hangman?) while Russell demurely sits in front of an open digital audio workstation in a pair of slippers. Comfort is key!

The prolific pair's 26th(!) studio album will follow 2020's A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip, as well as their soundtrack album to the 2021 film Annette. That same year, they were also the subject of an Edgar Wright documentary — and the celebration continued at their long-awaited Vancouver show earlier this year.
