Spanish Gold are a supergroup of sorts, since the lineup features My Morning Jacket's Patrick Hallahan, City and Colour's Dante Schwebel and Brownout's Adrian Quesada. Their debut album, South of Nowhere, is due out on May 27 through Dine Alone Records, and it's available to stream now.
The album begins with the quirky, keyboard-spiked soul-rock rhythms of "One Track Mind." This sets the tone for the collection, as much of the material centres around bouncy grooves, rock instrumentation and atmospheric production touches. Additionally, "Day Drinkin" is a straightforward campfire rock tune, and there's a distinct reggae flavour to "Shangri La."
