Soulja Boy Tells 'Em Potential US TikTok Ban Is His Fault

He claims to have made over $32,000 USD in one day on the platform

To state the obvious, 2007 was a simpler time. If there's any solace in the present moment, perhaps it's that I can still make jokes about a viral hit from that long ago thanks to Soulja Boy staying on his bullshit.

No stranger to outlandish claims, felonies, or desperate attempts to regain relevancy, the rapper has now alleged that the US House of Representatives passing a bill that could potentially ban our southern neighbours from using TikTok is his fault. Because of course.

Soulja Boy claims to have made over $32,000 USD in revenue in a single day on the platform, posting a screenshot of his alleged earnings on the app to his Instagram Story yesterday (March 13). "I made 32k in one day this why they tryna ban TikTok," he wrote.

Just last week, the rapper claimed to have made $17,000 in a 24-hour period on the app from a livestream, so business must really be booming. To devote even more time to TikToking, he also announced that he was leaving Instagram... which clearly didn't happen, having posted about his TikTok to his Instagram Stories.

Of course, Soulja Boy's lucrative influencing on the app (to be fair, "Crank That" kind of was a TikTok dance trend before TikTok was even a thing) isn't the actual reason why the House is looking to ban it; American legislators are asking parent company ByteDance Ltd. to divest from TikTok because they believe the tech firm is beholden to the Chinese government, making the platform a threat to national security.

Today, CTV News reported that the Canadian federal government had quietly ordered a national security review of TikTok back in September. The case is ongoing.
